The Defence Afghan Relocation and Resettlement (DARR) Directorate was established in 2022 to manage the process for identifying and supporting eligible Afghans who supported the UK mission in Afghanistan over the past 20 years to come to the UK under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme, and once here to be assisted to begin their new lives with their families. It is important and rewarding work, supporting one of Defence’s highest priorities.
The DBS DARR team are embedded within the Directorate to support the main effort by supplying 1st line support, triage, further information requests and casework services for all applications made under the ARAP scheme.
This role requires you to lead a Casework Team, with line management responsibility for HEO Civil Servants. Ongoing recruitment campaigns and contingent resource drives mean that the team structures will be dynamic and often made up of a blend of experiences and backgrounds, necessitating clarity and consistency in overseeing the training and management of caseworkers.
This role requires a large amount of autonomous working and confident stakeholder engagement with colleagues across the Directorate. The Team Leaders will need to accurately interpret the relevant policy to make decisions within their areas of work, as well as provide recommendations and advice to the relevant Assistant Heads in Casework and the wider DARR team. There will be a requirement to travel and overnight stays may be required.
Team Leaders will be expected to support the Casework Assistant Heads in providing formal updates on Casework activity to the DARR Senior Leadership and for Ministerial and cross-HMG use; attention to detail and accurate policy-compliant record-keeping / audit trails are essential.
Please note, candidates will be redirected to the Civil Service Jobs website where you will need to submit your application form.
