Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strong candidate to support teaching and learning at St Martins School, Caerphilly. We are seeking to appoint a HLTA with good levels of numeracy and literacy, who is flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team. We are looking for a resourceful and empathetic professional who is able to adapt to changing priorities.
The successful candidate will initially work alongside the ALNCo and Wellbeing Lead to support children with Additional Learning Needs and learners’ emotional wellbeing. The position also includes some lunchtime supervision, and the candidate will need to be flexible to work with secondary school students.
The role may include covering teachers’ lessons in some classes, and teaching small groups yourself in which case you would be required to supervise pupils, taking classes through learning programmes agreed, without a teacher present, whilst adapting lessons to suit individual pupils. This role would require you to plan lessons within a framework provided by the teacher, and to contribute to the selection and preparation of teaching resources. Monitoring and assessment of pupils would be expected through live marking, feedback, recording and reporting on achievement, progress and development. Your employment will be subject to satisfactory documentary evidence of registration, and continuing registration, as a Learning Support Assistant with the EWC. Information on how to register with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) can be found on their website. It is your responsibility to ensure you register and continue to register as part of your terms and conditions of employment. Term Time only plus Inset days, 8.00am to 2.30pm, 32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year.
Salary: NJC Grade 8, pro rata Fixed Term for one year. St Martin’s School is a popular 11-18 comprehensive school based in the town centre of Caerphilly.
