# Summer Play Scheme Worker

**Location:** Hackney, London (E2 8BA)
**Salary:** £12.50 to £15.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
**Job type:** Temporary
**Hours:** Full-time (Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm)
**Dates:** Monday 22 July – Thursday 15 August 2025

## Summary

ACS is looking for enthusiastic, caring and creative individuals to join our Summer Play Scheme team in Hackney. If you enjoy working with children and want to help provide a fun, safe and engaging summer experience, we’d love to hear from you.

## Job description

As a Summer Play Scheme Worker, you will:

- support the daily running of the holiday play scheme
- create a safe and inclusive environment for children aged 5 to 13
- plan and lead fun indoor and outdoor activities, such as games, arts and crafts, and sports
- supervise children on-site and during off-site trips
- help with refreshments and special dietary needs
- listen to children and respond to their needs
- encourage positive behaviour and cooperative play
- support compliance with Ofsted requirements and internal policies

## Responsibilities

You will also be expected to:

- deliver a range of play opportunities that reflect children's needs, interests, and backgrounds
- promote teamwork and help children develop confidence through play
- assist with personal care where necessary
- follow health and safety guidelines and report any issues
- work closely with other team members to ensure the scheme runs smoothly
- help plan and evaluate activities as part of a quality framework
- promote a positive image of the play scheme to families and the wider community

## Requirements

### Essential

- recognised play qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 in Playwork or equivalent)
- experience working with children aged 5 to 13 in a multicultural, urban setting
- proof of right to work in the UK
- an enhanced DBS check
- references covering the last 5 years

### Desirable

- First Aid qualification
- experience supporting children with special needs
