We are recruiting for the following position:
- Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
- Mainstream primary school
- London Borough of Kingston upon Thames
- Immediate start
- £100.00 per day pay rate (PAYE)
Our client school is based in the London Borough of Kingston upon Thames. They are a Catholic faith school but welcome applicants from all faiths and backgrounds, in line with their diverse, inclusive and welcoming ethos. They have a number of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and you will play a lead role in supporting those children.
What will you be doing in a typical day?
- Supporting SEND students in accessing the curriculum
- Supervising SEND students both inside and outside the classroom; assisting with break times, lunch times and trips as well as extra-curricular activities
- Using positive strategies and good behaviour management to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students
- Working closely with class teachers and other professionals towards achieving the best outcomes for SEND students
What skills would serve you well in this role?
- The most important skill is a positive mindset and a passion for supporting SEND students; there will be professional development opportunities available within the role
- Experience of working with SEND or vulnerable people in a previous role; this could include in schools and also in settings such as healthcare, social care, community or youth work
- It is essential that you have good emotional intelligence and empathy for SEND students
