Description
The Clerk of Works (PO3) plays a vital role in ensuring that construction projects are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance with statutory regulations. This position calls for a detail-oriented individual who possesses both technical knowledge and practical experience in the construction industry. The Clerk of Works will serve as a key liaison between the project manager, contractors, and clients, monitoring progress and ensuring that the project specifications are being met throughout the construction process. This includes conducting regular site visits, documenting findings, and providing feedback to enhance the efficiency of operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, along with a keen eye for detail, to identify any discrepancies early in the process. Additionally, the Clerk of Works must be proficient in reporting and communication skills, as they will generate reports outlining site observations, potential issues, and suggestions for improvement. Responsibilities
Conduct regular inspections of construction works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and regulations.
Monitor the work of contractors to ensure quality and adherence to project timelines.
Maintain accurate records of site inspections, progress, and any issues encountered during construction.
Raise concerns with contractors regarding quality, safety, or any deviations from project requirements.
Liaise with project managers, architects, and engineers to discuss project status and resolve issues as they arise.
Review and approve material samples, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.
Prepare detailed reports on site conditions, issues, and resolutions for submission to the management team.
Requirements
Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
A relevant qualification in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
Sound understanding of building regulations, quality standards, and construction methodologies.
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and liaising with stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
