Please note you will be required to complete a swim test consisting of the below as part of the interview process.
â— Jump/dive into deep water
â— Swim 50 metres in no more than 60 seconds
â— Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water and then tread water for 30 seconds
â— Surface dive to floor of pool (deepest part)
â— Climb out of a swimming pool unaided by ladders/steps and where pool design permits
While learning with GLL you will be enrolled on a Leisure Team Member apprenticeship programme which takes approximately 18 months to complete as well as completing the following qualifications throughout the length of your apprenticeship:
â— National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
â— STA Award in Teaching Swimming
â— STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming
â— Level 2 Gym Instructor
Your role and apprenticeship will include:
Customer Experience
â— Understanding the services and products on offer to assist with customer questions, queries and complaints
â— Support the centre to deliver swimming lessons where required (qualification dependant)
â— Sharing knowledge with customers on the role exercise plays in health and wellbeing
â— Conducting customers' gym inductions and health screening where required (qualifications dependant)
People Experience
â— Supporting GLL's visions and values
â— Attend and participate in all apprenticeship workshops, meetings and reviews
â— Ensure all training and qualification deadlines are met in agreement with your tutor and manger
â— Keep up-to-date with trends and developments in the leisure industry
Business Performance
â— Having an understanding of GLL and its position in the Health & Fitness Industry
â— Understanding the performance of the centre(s) that you are working in and the factors that can affect performance
Operations Performance and risk management
â— Supporting the centre to open and close the building
â— Supervising and lifeguarding customers in swimming pools
â— Setting up and taking down different types of equipment for activities
â— Cleaning and maintenance of different areas of the centre
Personal Effectiveness and Development
â— Demonstrate equality, inclusion and diversity in behaviours and actions
â— Attend all monthly workshops and progress meetings as per your apprenticeship standard

At GLL, you will be working towards a Leisure Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship Qualification over the course of 15 months.
