Join Our 3D-Making Team as a Metalwork Technician
The 3D-Making team at GSA supports students from across the school in developing their creative ideas using wood, metal, and plastics.
We are excited to invite applications for a full-time Metalwork Technician (fixed term, until September 2026) to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a creative, dynamic, and supportive educational environment.
About the Role
As a Metalwork Technician, you will:
• Oversee the day-to-day operation of our metalwork facilities.
• Provide guidance, support, and supervision to students working with metal.
• Help foster a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive community resource that responds to student needs.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines and best practices.
About You
We welcome candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You might have:
• A qualification at QCF Level 5 (or equivalent) in a related area, or
• Significant relevant work experience (for example, 3 years’ experience in metal fabrication, or 1 year as a metal technician in an educational setting).
• Experience with mill and lathe work is helpful but not essential. An understanding of 3D making practices or experience with 3D CAD software is desirable, but we are happy to support your development in these areas.
You do not need prior experience working in education to apply. If you are passionate about sharing your skills and supporting others, we encourage you to apply-even if you do not meet every requirement listed.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
GSA is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone. We particularly welcome applications from groups underrepresented in technical fields, including women, people with disabilities, and individuals from Black and minority ethnic communities.
If you’re interested in this role but are unsure if you meet all the criteria, we encourage you to get in touch or apply. We value your potential and are committed to supporting your growth with us.
GSA is part of the Technician Commitment.
