The Governing Body of Coedpenmaen Primary School is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a school that places wellbeing, equality, and inclusion at its core, with a strong focus on high-quality learning and pupil support. We are particularly looking for someone with a sound understanding of non-maintained nursery settings and experience of the Foundation Phase/foundation learning philosophy, who can support our youngest learners in a developmentally appropriate and play-based environment. Applicants who can also contribute to our current school-wide focus on anti-racism and inclusive education are strongly encouraged to apply. While this role will initially support early years provision, over time it may involve working flexibly across other areas of the school, depending on the needs of pupils and staff. Coedpenmaen Primary School, based in Pontypridd, supports 213 pupils across 9 classes. We are proud of our nurturing ethos and our commitment to the Four Purposes that underpin our curriculum. We believe in fostering a love of learning through meaningful, challenging, and accessible experiences. Our school puts pupils' wellbeing and happiness at the heart of all we do, enabling every child to thrive and achieve.
Coedpenmaen Primary School can offer: • A warm, inclusive school environment rooted in mutual respect and equal opportunity. • A highly supportive team of staff and leaders who prioritise collaboration and professional growth. • Engaged and resilient learners who benefit from a broad, inclusive curriculum. • Access to ongoing training and development. • A committed and proactive Governing Body. • A chance to be part of a school making active progress in anti-racist practice and inclusive education.
The Successful Candidate Will: • Support children’s learning both in groups and individually under the guidance of teaching staff. • Assist with planning and preparation of resources and classroom organisation. • Demonstrate sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of pupils and promote inclusivity. • Positively contribute to the school’s anti-racism commitment and wider equality, diversity and inclusion agenda. • Work effectively as part of a team to support children’s emotional, social and academic development. • Be willing and able to support Welsh as a Second Language. • Communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and families. • Be flexible, proactive and caring in approach. • Have knowledge or experience of working in a non-maintained nursery setting. • Have a clear understanding of the Foundation Phase/foundation learning philosophy, with a focus on play-based and child-centred approaches. • Be willing to participate in school events and enrichment activities.
