Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

An important part of the trust’s strategy for school improvement is to grow the capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners.

You will be able to demonstrate successful leadership with significant curriculum experience in history. You will have a proven track record of examination success and be able to evidence that you are a consistently outstanding teacher who can demonstrate and model the qualities required for this key leadership role.

As Director of History, you will be expected to play a key role in working with curriculum leaders and teachers and assist in accelerating the pace of improvement in our academies within the trust, particularly those in the North West of England. This is an exciting role for exceptional candidates with the drive to lead and to enhance standards of history across our secondary academies. You will help shape the curriculum in order to ensure outstanding teaching and learning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, driven and passionate historian to join our highly successful and growing director team within history. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the subject, as well as the GCSE and A-Level specifications is essential. As Director of History, you will report to and be supported in your role by the Senior Director of Humanities and together you will play a vital part in determining, leading and refining the quality of history education within our secondary schools. You must have a personable nature, with the diplomacy and versatility to build connections with a wide range of stakeholders. You must possess a relentless focus on standards, embracing our Trust vision: ‘Outcomes Focused, Child Centred.’

Although you will be based at a trust academy in the North West, providing you with an opportunity to be part of a leadership team, travel across the trust academies will be necessary in supporting curriculum leadership and teacher development throughout the trust.
