The NHSBSAs Digital Delivery Centre is the engine room which runs our digital products and services, this is where our capabilities for the inception through to the running and ultimately retirement of our digital services are housed, including Delivery Management, User Centred Design, Software Engineering and Cloud Engineering our Digital Delivery Centre is the home of our builders. Working in cross-functional squads each responsible for one or more product or service, teams will follow a combination of Agile and/or Waterfall techniques for delivery of features across allocated products and services. Responsible for teams working on some of the NHSs largest national systems both B2C and B2B the Director for the Digital Delivery Centre will be responsible for ensuring that capacity and capability of the delivery centre is fit for now and the future. Looking inwardly at the demand of the organisation in collaboration with the DDaT Director for Delivery, Governance and Strategy and putting in place and strategy and delivering upon it to meet those demands both from a capacity and a capability perspective. The Director of the Digital Delivery Centre will be responsible for ensuring that good and robust delivery governance is in place and the right methodologies are applied, the Director will be responsible for the adherence of internal and national delivery approaches such as UK Government Service Design standards. In addition to this the Digital Delivery Centre is the home of our People Leadership capability, operating a matrix management model a team of People Managers will business partner across the DDaT directorate to ensure that good people leadership and management is in place working to support our aspiration of being the best place any of us have worked you will work closely with our Corporate People team to ensure alignment to organisational priorities and practices. In this role, you are accountable for Strategic Leadership Providing strategic leadership to a department of DDaT professionals who provide services in line with role accountabilities to enable the delivery of the NHSBSA strategy and business plan through development and implementation of Strategy and associated plans, whilst supporting the Chief Officer in the development of vision and strategic direction. Ensure that the platforms and processes utilised for service delivery are fit for purpose and work with suppliers to ensure that new system requirements continue to be delivered to the appropriate standard. Digital Data and Technology Leadership Lead the organisations digital service delivery, ensuring end-to-end excellence in digital service design and operations. Responsible for the professions of Delivery Management, User Centred Design, Software Engineering, Solution Design, Cloud Engineering you will create the conditions for these professions to deliver, this will be a combination of your own expertise and also your team of Heads of Profession for each areas expert knowledge you will ensure that good practices are in place for the professions to learn, share and engage such as communities of practice (guilds) and show and tell sessions. Develop and manage capabilities in the delivery of digital solutions, you will ensure that good delivery governance is applied across the teams within the Digital Delivery Centre. This includes Agile and/or Waterfall approaches you will ensure that the ceremonies needed to manage delivery are in place and functioning effectively, you will work with teams and stakeholders to design and implement performance measurement approaches (KPIs such as burndown and forecasting) so that teams are effective in delivering, looking for an implementing improvement to support high performing teams with predictable output. Implement a matrix model for capacity allocation, ensuring effective delivery of services based on organisational demands. Working with stakeholders within DDaT you will identify priorities and collaborate to allocate capacity where it is most effective, working in a environment of cross functional delivery squads you will monitor allocation of individuals and teams looking for opportunities for efficiency and exploring different delivery models such as working with 3rd party suppliers to expand and contract as demand is needed. Embed a strong service design culture focused on user experience, accessibility, and inclusion. You will lead on creating a culture of user need led delivery within the organisation, looking to ensure that all which we do is built upon solid user needs and UCD principles Horizon scan and be abreast of the emerging delivery practices in product and service delivery of Digital solutions, leading the adoption of these approaches. The role will take a continuous learning and inquisitive approach to the emergence of new approaches and capabilities in the field of Digital, looking for opportunities through these developments for use and improvements within the organisation and across the services the NHSBSA deliver. The postholder will sponsor and champion projects to implement new ways of working and solutions which evolve using change management and delivery techniques. Decision-Making & Continuous Improvement This role embeds data led thinking of all levels, ensuring evidence-based decision making to drive organisation success. Youll use analytics and storytelling to influence strategy, improve services and enhance customer outcomes. You ensure a focus on measurable impact holding self and others accountable for performance and delivery Primary accountability for the successful delivery of required performance levels within the Directorate, including establishing and maintaining appropriate governance, scorecards and ensuring business readiness for change, alongside supporting the overall NHSBSA and wider NHS strategies. Continuously develop and drive service insight and other complex data to evaluate current operating model to determine changes needed within the service area whilst inspiring horizon scan for future opportunities, threats and service improvements. Leading on major strategic projects, in conjunction with other Directors and Executive Leadership Team, acting as SRO for programmes and projects undertaken where appropriate. Transformation, Innovation & Stakeholder Influence Lead large scale change, and transformation with vision, adaptability and strategic foresight. You will foster a culture of curiosity, challenge and continuous improvement to drive sustainable innovation, building and leveraging influential relationships, managing complex stakeholder landscapes with political acumen. This role will align internal and external partners to advance NHSBSA mission, securing commitment to shared goals. Leading highly complex change and transformation plans, in a changing NHS System, having the necessary skills to navigate sensitive environments. Leadership level responsibilities and accountabilities: Providing advice and preparing strategic reports and briefings for NHSBSA Directors and Leadership Team, DHSC, Arms Length Bodies to DHSC, Cabinet Office, HM Treasury and other key stakeholders, as required and analyse, interpret, and produce more in-depth reports on performance. Drawing from experience, expertise and networks across industries, to ensure that the organisation benefits from relevant innovations, and remains future proof, and aligned to moving technology and best practice, and keep this at the forefront of all strategic plans.
