About the Role

As an Operations Manager, you’ll take charge of delivering efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible waste collection services. Your role will see you managing frontline staff and contractors as well as being part of the team that delivers service improvements and new recycling collection schemes. On a daily basis your teams work will have an impact on the lives of those that live, work or visit Pendle.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage the council’s waste collection and recycling services
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Oversee contracts, budgets, and service performance
• Support innovative strategies to reduce waste and increase recycling rates
• Engage with the public, stakeholders, and partners to enhance service delivery
• Support the council’s climate and environmental goals

About You:
• Proven leadership experience in waste management or a similar operational field
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation and local authority procedures
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
• Experience managing budgets and contracts
• A commitment to public service and sustainability
