Summary
The post holder will: Participate in the Acute Medical Unit interdisciplinary educational programme Promote and display evidence of development in nursing and related clinical research which further enhance the acumen and level of professional knowledge. Ensure that own practice and that of others within the Acute Medical Unit is consistent with current research knowledge and is evidence based Establish and develop an information resource for patients and their relatives. Work collaboratively with other members of the team in undertaking research and audit programmes within the Acute Medical Unit and actively contribute to the Clinical governance Agenda. Work collaboratively with Practice Development Nurse, Matrons and General Manager to identify the training needs of nursing staff; to inform the overall Trust Training Needs Analysis. Actively contribute to reducing clinical risk and be proactive in risk management. Support the Clinical Director, General Manager and Matrons in implementing clinical governance standards and objectives. Work in liaison with the multidisciplinary teams both within the hospital and Primary Care. Provide effective support to the Matron and Sister/Charge Nurse within the Acute Medical Unit. Actively participate in service development and modernization. Work collaboratively in order to achieve the meeting of national targets Use resources effectively and actively contribute, as appropriate, to ensure robust financial management Responsible for supervising Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Work with the Divisional Nurse Director (Medicine), General Manager and Matrons to develop and advance nursing practice within theAcute Medical Unit and across the Trust. Offer a patient focused service with a holistic emphasis. Act as a role model; providing support, leadership and an ethos of sharing knowledge. Establish effective working relationships across inter-disciplinary boundaries and work closely with the consultant medical staff. Possess a sound, well established clinical knowledge base within the Acute and Emergency Care specialty across a wide remit of patient groups. Ensure all documentation completed is clear, concise and legible in accordance with NMC guidelines. Work as per agreed protocols, policies and procedures and assist in the evaluation and review of such documents. Work in collaboration with other members of the Acute and Emergency Care team.
