Summary
Bishop Road Primary School is a thriving local authority-maintained community school for children aged 4 to 11. We are currently one of the largest primary schools in the City of Bristol with over 800 children on the roll. We have an active Governing Body that guides the strategic direction of the school and benefits from a supportive parent community and an enthusiastic PTFA which run many community events. In our recent Ofsted inspection, November 2023, the school was graded Outstanding in all categories.
Due to the retirement of our long serving and devoted Headteacher, we wish to appoint an individual with the experience and vision required to provide new leadership during our next stage of success.
Our school is a welcoming and happy place to learn and grow. We have a dedicated team all working together to give our children the best education possible and we look forward to welcoming applicants for the pivotal role of our new Headteacher.
About the Role:
We are looking for someone who:
• will embrace the culture and ethos of literature, story and narrative sense
• is committed to working collaboratively to draw on our existing strengths whilst identifying and realising other opportunities, priorities and goals for this next stage of our school’s journey
• is an inspirational and passionate educator
• understands and can maintain the importance of high standards in parallel with wider development opportunities and across a broad curriculum
• communicates clearly, is approachable and collegiate, and is able to build good relationships with all members of our community
• understands that we are happy to remain a local authority maintained school and currently have no plans or wish to become or join an academy
• will ensure the school holds ambitious expectations for all pupils with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and supports pupils in achieving those expectations
• understands the complexities and challenges of managing a large primary school
• understands the importance of stability during this period of transition.
About You:
We need you to:
• be an experienced school leader, highly competent manager and passionate educator
• have experience as a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher and a proven track record of successful school leadership
• use your strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills to inspire and enthuse our children, staff and wider community
• respect and preserve our ethos and values
• have imagination, tenacity and resourcefulness
• be committed to the continued collaboration and professional development of our talented, hardworking and creative staff
