Summary

Roles and responsibilities include:

Assist Digital Team Lead, Whole Force and Internal Communications Team Lead in the provision of RNWeb & Defence Gateway Defence Connect services ensuring appropriate content is available to users in the right place and in the best format.
Provide technical advice, publishing guidance and assistance to Navy Command and detached sub authors.
Manage RNWeb sub author training.
Manage the implementation of changes and enhancements to RNWeb.
Ensure daily administration, housekeeping and maintenance of RNWeb products and information.
Support and advise Digital Team Lead, Whole Force and Internal Communications Team Lead in setting policy and future direction for RNWeb.
Manage two DefNet publishers.

Line Manager

As a Line Manager to ensure reporting staff are managed according to applicable rules and regulations. The key tasks for the Line Manager are:

Carry out day-to-day staff management, ensuring reporting staff are set clear priorities and are performing within set parameters.
Review and assess performance of reporting staff based on agreed performance objectives (set annually) and Terms of Reference for the post.
Be responsible for staff development following Defence development review process and work with Professional Development Lead (if that is a different post holder).
Handle personnel issues by following Defence personnel procedures.

Professional Development Lead

The role of the Professional Development Lead is to oversee, plan and coordinate professional development activities for his / her team within RN MCE. Key tasks include:

Support the DDC Head of Professional Development in delivering the Defence Communicator Professional Development Strategy.
Maintain an up to date status report on professional development progress of all staff within RN MCE.
Identify professional development needs of individuals and incorporate that into their professional development plan.
Coordinate with DDC, Government Communication Service or third parties on the provisioning of professional development to staff. If required, produce business case to secure budget for fee-paying training.
The post holder reports to C1 Digital Platforms Team Lead.
The post holder works closely with Whole Force Internal Communications Team Lead and Content Creation Team Lead.

AUTHORITY AND COMMITTEES

The post holder is authorised to:

Initiate and sign correspondence relating to his/her purpose on behalf of C1 Digital Platforms TL
Liaise directly with other authorities as appropriate to the tasks of maintaining web applications for Navy Command Headquarters.
Liaise directly with other authorities, including but not exclusively defnet/MODNET/DII Group, DDC Int Comms Channels, ISS Dev ASDT Emporium, as appropriate to the tasks of relating to supporting the management and development of RNWeb.

Is a member of:

MODNet, DefNet, DII and RNWeb related meetings and for a as required.

Attends:

Standard RNCOMMS battle rhythm meetings.
