Crynodeb

The Army KIM role is accountable for conducting information management assurance activities that ensure compliance with MOD / Army KIM policy and UK Government legislation. It will provide KIM policy advice and guidance to Army KIM Professionals, conduct audit and compliance reviews, update official publications, and provide an effective upskilling service.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the Army, ensure information is properly secured, maintained, and exploited to the benefit of the organisation and deliver an improved assurance and compliance framework. They will have line management responsibility for a small team of civil servants based at Army HQ, although they will be expected to work cross-functionally within the team.

This role will provide opportunities to further develop core and functional skills with potential to work towards membership to the Chartered Institute of Library & Information Professionals (CILIP).

Key responsibilities include:

Review and publish KIM Army Command Standing Orders (i.e. Army KIM policy) quarterly in line with current Joint Service Publications and UK legislation
Develop KIM processes and procedures that monitor compliance with MOD / Army policy in the management and storage of information across information systems
Carry out KIM audit and compliance checks of Army units and information repositories, providing feedback to units and monitoring actions plans to rectify issues
Develop and deliver KIM briefings to Army units, including higher formations and divisions
Develop KIM Ways of Working (WoW) to exploit Army information and knowledge more effectively
Represent Army KIM at boards, meetings and working groups providing back briefs to senior management as necessary.
Act as Secretary of the Army KIM Working Group
Provide advice and guidance to Army KIM professionals on best practice and KIM WoW
Lead a small team of Crown Civil Servants
