Summary
This role will be responsible for managing a small team reporting to NBC(P)’s Senior Business Manager and is accountable to the Head of Operations.
The Operations Department is responsible for the optimisation of operations which represent value for money at PNB through facilitation of the delivery of the integrated plan across the base and the management of issues to the delivery of operations. This includes managing the delivery of waterfront services to the base and facilitating operational integration between customers, service providers and entities at the base including, but not limited to, Infrastructure, Ships, Ship Engineering and SURFLOT. Within the Operations Department the following sections reside, Kings Harbour Master (KHM), Defence Reserve Ships Organisation (DRSO), Health, Safety and Environment Group (HSEG), Business Management Team and the Service Delivery Integration Group (SDIG).
The Information Manager post is responsible for delivering on behalf of Naval Base Commander (Portsmouth) (NBC(P)), Information Management and Information Systems initiatives and projects.
This position requires good judgment, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and ensure that the environments within which NBC(P) personnel store, access and disseminate electronic and hard copy information comply with JSP441 – Managing Information in Defence and Navy Command Information and Records Management directives.
Develop, monitor and improve capability of NBC(P) business areas to use / exploit information.
Periodic completion of the Information, Knowledge, Digital and Data (IKDD) assessment tool to develop and build information maturity iaw Navy Command direction.
Provide advice and guidance to NBC(P) personnel to enable them to fully exploit business information, including undertaking termly Information Management awareness briefs to business areas.
Oversee the NBC(P) Data Protection Authority responsibilities to provide guidance and ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA18) and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR.
Provide regular briefings to the 1* Information Asset Owner (IAO).
Develop and maintain an Information Risk Register for NBC(P).
Production of the NBC(P) Information Management Plan.
Line Management of three Executive Officer/Band D posts.
