Summary

Role Overview: As an NHS GP Receptionist, you will play a crucial role in the smooth operation of a General Practice (GP) clinic within the National Health Service (NHS) . Your primary responsibility will be to provide efficient administrative support and excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities 1. Opening or closing the practice in line with practice requirements Maintaining Cleanliness and Safety- Ensuring the reception area and waiting room are clean and tidy. 2. Patient Interaction and Communication Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner. Answer phone calls, emails, and other communications promptly. Address patient enquiries and provide information regarding practice services and procedures. Conduct initial assessments and prioritise patient appointments based on urgency. 3. Appointment Scheduling and Management Coordinate patient appointments, ensuring appropriate allocation of time slots and healthcare providers using the practice's electronic booking system. Confirm appointments and follow up on cancellations or rescheduling. Ensure that appointments are appropriately distributed to optimize clinic workflow. 4.Record Keeping and Data Entry Maintain accurate electronic and paper-based patient records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Provide general administrative support, including filing and managing correspondence. 5. Administrative Duties Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Process patient registrations, ensuring all required information is collected and entered onto the system. Handle correspondence, including sending out appointment reminders and test results. Assist with the preparation of medical reports and documents as needed. 6. Support for Medical Staff Provide administrative support to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operation. To cover duties for other members of staff, this may arise in the case of absence, sickness and holidays 7. Compliance and Confidentiality Ensure compliance with NHS guidelines, policies, data protection regulations, and confidentiality standards. Attend training sessions and stay updated on relevant healthcare regulations and best practices. Report any issues or irregularities to the practice manager or appropriate authority.
