Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated Facilities Manager to support No10’s Facilities Management Team in ensuring the effective day to day management of world class, customer focused, facilities management services to the Downing Street complex via outsourced service providers.

The focus is on facilities management and service delivery. But this interesting and broad ranging role requires the balancing of the complex’s different functions: a heritage building; a dynamic office environment; residential accommodation and a place for visitors. Other duties include Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Business Continuity, Corporate Governance and Line Management responsibilities.

You will need to demonstrate high levels of FM experience and customer service. Commitment and flexibility, demonstrate strong leadership skills and be a good team player. You will need strong interpersonal and communication skills, picking up new issues quickly and confidently analysing issues to find workable solutions. You will need to be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and promote partnership working with outsourced commercial service providers. You will need to be able to deliver in a challenging, fast-paced environment where delivery and business continuity are prioritised.

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, this post line manages the Housekeeping Team. It also has indirect responsibility for a number of site based external service provider staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective line management of the Housekeeping Team and communication with site-based contractor staff. Inspire, develop, and motive staff and contractors to be fully engaged in their work and dedicated to their role.
  • To be highly visible, always available and the “go to” person for queries
  • Ensure value for money when procuring activity and ordering consumables
  • Responsibility for maintenance regime and assets belonging to the building
  • Regular checks of the facilities and action where required
  • Support onsite facilities inspections, floor walks and service audits
  • Proactively monitor work orders
  • React to day to day queries, triage colleague queries responding in a timely manner or referring them to the right team or self service channels
  • Deliver an experience that is professional, friendly and attentive at all times
  • To anticipate the needs of colleagues
  • Act as the out-of-hours emergency contact to ensure Business Continuity and be the first point of contact for dealing with accommodation issues and maintenance.
