Summary
Cory operates two Household Waste Recycling Centres (HHWRC) on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority. The larger of the two sites is based at Western Riverside Transfer Station at Smugglers Way, Wandsworth and handles approximately 30,000 tonnes of waste and recyclables from the general public every year.
An opportunity has arisen for a Recycling Operative to be part of a small team to operate the HHWRC at Smugglers Way to best practice, provide excellent customer service and to significantly increase the levels of recycling on the site.
The successful candidate will:
- work as part of a small team of HHWRC Operatives to ensure that the facility is operated in line with best practice
- undertake manual tasks as part of the day-to-day role and to also be prepared to work towards gaining new skills in operating mobile plant
- ensure that a high level of customer service is provided at all times to members of the public using the facility
- proactively engage with members of the public to encourage and maximise levels of recycling
- ensure compliance at the facility in relation to legislation, health and safety, contractual and operational requirements
- assist the HHWRC Coordinator and Site Supervisor in planning the allocation of resources necessary to maintain performance in line with operating schedules, this includes but is not limited to organising the transport and container clearing services
