What skills and experience we're looking for

The Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Teaching and Learning Assistant to support a child with additional learning needs, who is currently in Year 2.

The child has an EHCP for his learning needs but he is a very enthusiastic pupil . He has delayed speech and language but is making good progress with his language development. He also has a physical disability but manages this disability extremely well.

We are looking for a member of staff to support the child in all areas of the curriculum and to ensure his safety throughout the school day. An ability to differentiate some of the curriculum would be desirable so that appropriate learning materials can be modified to meet the needs of the pupils. Experience of working with SEND children is essential.

Enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of how children learn are essential. Appropriate qualifications to Level 2 are required and GCSE in Maths and English – Grade C or above are essential.

Lammack Community Primary School is a larger than average primary school which is desirable to work at due to the hardworking children, fantastic staff team spirit and excellent environment and facilities. ‘Warm and friendly relationships exist between pupils and their teachers. Pupils said that they feel happy, safe and secure. They enjoy being part of this large school which has a small family feel. Leaders, governors and staff are ambitious for all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged or have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Pupils meet this ambition and achieve well.’ (Ofsted September, 2022)

What the school offers its staff

This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to join Lammack during a significant period of expansion. Lammack has just completed a large build project to transform this very popular primary school from a 2 ½ form entry to a 3 form entry school. This year has seen the first intake of 90 pupils and there will be year on year increase for the following seven years, so the successful candidate would be joining the school at the optimum time for future prospects.

Application forms are available from the BwD jobs page. Completed application forms can be returned to school via email to office@lammack.blackburn.sch.uk or by post to Mrs N Majid, Deputy Headteacher, Lammack Primary School, Lammack Road, Blackburn, BB1 8LH
