Summary
The large Pharmacy department employs nearly 400 staff and is highly respected within the Trust as a dynamic and forward-thinking department. We are constantly striving to improve, using technology and digital resources to provide world class medicine management activities.Every member of pharmacy staff contributes to delivering our vision: this includes approximately 150 pharmacists, 120 pharmacy technicians, 90 support workers, 20 trainees and our supporting administrative staff. We review our progress and achievements annually, and highlight areas for focused development, but allow for responsiveness to changing national and local priorities. The department currently has over 80 pharmacist prescribers and this is increasing each year. We have 4 consultant pharmacists across a range of specialties who, along with many other staff, engage in national and international initiatives helping to maintain the departments excellent reputation. Our department also has highly developed career structures and pathways for all staff groups.Staff are actively encouraged to develop their skills: Opportunities include: Prescribing Research internships Project management Huge variety of clinical specialties Leadership training As a highly specialist biologics pharmacist, you will be expected to:-Prescribe/screen and supply biologic therapy to outpatients attending for infusions and patients managed with homecare.-Support the biosimilar switch programme to ensure patient safety and enable cost-effective use of medicines.-Work with the lead consultants for each specialty to develop the role of the pharmacist in outpatient clinics.-Provide highly specialist clinical pharmacy support to both the infusion centre and the wards as needed.-Lead and manage projects to support service development, cost improvement and clinical excellence. You will be part of a well-integrated and highly valued team, working closely alongside consultants and specialist nurses. You will be well supported by the Lead Pharmacist for Biologics. You will also be included in the wider Division B pharmacy team (Medicine and Elderly Care) where you will have the opportunity to meet regularly with the pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy support workers within this team to have your say in the strategic and day-to-day operation of the pharmacy service to Division B. We are proud of our use of technology to communicate with each other and the wards, and regularly test new ways to make small improvements in the way we work and the service we deliver. This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis (37.5 hours per week) but hours of work and shift patterns are open to discussion. All pharmacy staff are required to contribute to extended hours, weekends & bank holidays as part of core hours. This includes general dispensary duties such as dispensing prescriptions and clinical pharmacy duties. This will include one late night every week (until 7pm) and one weekend shift every 6 weeks (9-5pm either Sat or Sun).
