Purpose of the job:
andnbsp;
To complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities. To support pupilsandrsquo; learning in a range of classroom settings, including working with individual pupils or groups and whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present. This will involve teaching whole class lessons from Nursery to Y6. The successful candidate will be expected to plan and deliver lessons to cover PPA and may be required to cover classes at short notice due to staff absence. The successful candidate may also be involved in extra duties such as first aid and taking clubs before or after school. This may also involve various activities in line with the needs of the school.

The successful higher level teaching assistant will work closely with the class teacher to ensure the curriculum long term plans are delivered,andnbsp; whilst monitoring pupils and assessing, recording and reporting on their achievement, progress and development to the class teacher.

The successful candidate will have:
have experience of working across key stages
The ability to work as part of a team in developing support strategies for children across the school to remove barriers to learning.
The ability to be creative and use initiative to engage a child.
Be very organised and use time effectively.
Have experience and skills in behaviour management.
The ability to build effective relationships with children, parents and the wider community.
Experience in communicating effectively with a line manager to provide feedback on successes, areas for development or concerns.
Strong skills within English and Mathematics.
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Be willing to work independently and as part of a team
Be willing to get involved in the corporate life of the school, supporting the informal as well as the formal curriculum
Be committed to high standards in all aspects of school life
