Summary

We are seeking to appoint an Apprentice Maintenance Carpenter to join the Campus Operations team, within Estates, who offer a reactive service and maintaining a variety of aspects of the building fabric in University owned properties across all our campuses and sites.

You will be supported to learn how to carry out reactive and planned maintenance on the university’s building stock, investigating, fault finding and seeking solutions to building fabric faults and failures. Carry out routine inspections and the planned maintenance schedules of the University's access control systems.
The role holder will assist in the provision an effective and prompt customer focussed, professional and efficient service to the University in accordance with its requirements, aims, objectives and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
You will be required to complete 4 year 6 months training programme that will cover all aspects of the role (completing a Level 2 and then the Level 3 apprenticeship) and will be delivered through in-house training, as well as day-release or other distance learning methods delivered by Windsor Forest College Group based in Langley or similar provider.
You will complete a level 3 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship which is within the Construction and Built Environment sector and you will gain Level 3 Advanced Carpentry & Joinery Qualification. Note - Year 3 is likely to be delivered by Abingdon & Witney College in Bicester unless a local provider can be sourced.

- Educated to GCSE standard (Maths and English Grade 4 or above) or equivalent.
- Experience & knowledge of IT e.g. Microsoft Office applications and Smart devices e.g. iPad
- Ability to communicate messages clearly and accurately on the phone, by email and in person
- Able to demonstrate an aptitude for the skills taught in the Apprenticeship
- Full valid clean driving licence
