Summary

Spraybooth Technology Limited are one of the UK’s leading innovators in spraybooth design and manufacture with a growing customer base, which includes vehicle manufacturers, independent body shops and franchised bodyshop networks. STL has also become a leading supplier of bespoke spraybooths for commercial vehicle, rolling stock manufacturers and the aerospace industry.

Due to expansion and an increased order book, an experienced Design Engineer is required to join the design team. The Design Engineer will work with other Design Engineers, Project Managers, and other internal company personnel to create final design solutions working to detailed project and technical specifications and sales layout drawings, in line with the project and production plan. The Design Engineer will also be required to liaise with external suppliers and sub-contractors where required and provide design and technical support to the sales team for production of functional design specifications for inclusion within sales documentation and presentations

Responsibilities & Tasks
• Mechanical engineering design using AutoCAD, Inventor and Vault, working to project and technical specifications.
• Can provide design calculations for frame structures, airflow, and energy requirements.
• Produce designs to the conforming standards and certification requirements.
• Preparation of production drawings for parts, fabrications, and assemblies.
• Creation of bills of materials.
• Carry out drawing modifications as and when required to existing drawings using revision control, change processes and procedures.
• Liaise with project management, purchasing and manufacturing departments for distribution of information and assist with technical queries.
• Participate in project design reviews and provide technical solutions to design problems.
• To identify improvements and cost reduction opportunities in design, manufacturing techniques and materials used.
• Participation in research and development projects.
• Some site attendance will be required.

Experience / Skills
• A skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer using AutoCAD &
Inventor/Vault/Solidworks/Solidworks PDM software or similar.
• Experienced in understanding 2D sales layout approval drawings.
• Experience with working to standards and certifications.
• Experience with manufacturing techniques including sheet metal fabrication and welding.
• Experience in HVAC, M&E design for manufacturing and knowledge of building services is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage customer expectations.
• Good team player and teamwork skills.
• Lots of initiative and must be dynamic and organised.
• Confident decision-making ability and be able to explain design ideas and plans clearly.
• Must have the ability to work accurately and at pace to strict deadlines under time pressures.
• Excellent IT and communication skills, project management skills/methodologies being highly beneficial.
• Liaise with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
• HNC Mechanical Engineering qualified minimum.
• Minimum 3 years previous experience in a similar design role with transferable skills.
