Summary

Spraybooth Technology Limited are one of the UK’s leading innovators in spraybooth design and manufacture with a growing customer base, which includes vehicle manufacturers, independent body shops and franchised bodyshop networks. STL has also become a leading supplier of bespoke spraybooths for commercial vehicle, rolling stock manufacturers and the aerospace industry.

Due to expansion and an increasing order book, there is a requirement for a Trainee Design Engineer to join the current design team. The Trainee Design Engineer will work with Sales and Project Managers, and other internal company personnel to create 2D layout sales drawings for both internal use and customer approval. They will provide design support for production of functional design specifications for
inclusion within sales documentation and presentations.

The role will further develop in-time with training to use 3D CAD software to work on design projects for manufacturing and installation purposes. based on the 2D sales drawings they create.

Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities & Tasks
• Preparation of 2D sales layout drawings
• Carry out drawing modifications as and when required to existing drawings using revision control,
change processes and procedures.
• Liaise with sales and project management for distribution of information.
• Participate in project design reviews with customers.
• Some site attendance will be required.

Experience / Skills
• Experience using AutoCAD software or similar is desirable but full training will be provided.
• Some understanding of 2D design layout approval drawings.
• Experience in HVAC, M&E design for manufacturing and knowledge of building services is desirable.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Good team player and teamwork skills.
• Initiative and must be dynamic and organised.
• Confident decision-making ability and be able to explain design ideas and plans clearly.
• Can work to strict deadlines under time pressures.
• Good IT and communication skills.
• Liaise with customers.
• A Mechanical Engineering qualification is desirable.
• Experience in a design role with transferable skills is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
