Summary

Key result areas: 1) To be a bed engineer responsible for carrying out routine and reactive maintenance on a wide range of patient beds, trolleys and cots, planning and arranging workload and prioritizing tasks 2) To undertake and update training on a wide variety of basic to complex electronic and mechanical equipment 3) To supervise and train other staff in Medical Engineering, upholding working standards, policies, procedures and objectives in order to maintain those standards and service delivery 4) To technically analyze patient beds, trolleys and cots that have been involved in an adverse clinical incident, ability to liaise with clinical staff, manufacturers, Section Managers, the MHRA and risk staff to provide a detailed technical report 5) To assist in the undertaking of medical device trials, evaluation and selection, and advising on purchasing, training, operation, maintenance, repair and disposal to ensure that equipment is compatible with existing and that replacement is planned prior to equipment redundancy, thus meeting the developing needs of the NHS healthcare provision 6) Undertake any design and development or implement modifications to medical devices following manufacturers or MHRA advice, ensuring that any work undertaken is in accordance with Trust Policy and National compliance and standards 7) Use computer skills to operate the asset management system in order to record activity and equipment details ensuring that the information is accurate for both customer and managerial needs 8) To maintain ISO EN 9001:2015 Quality system Policies and Procedures, including identification of problems, non-conformities and improvements relevant to the wider area of Medical Engineering in order to maintain accreditation
