Summary
This is a brilliant opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional to join our Duty & Assessment team and promote and improve the mental health and well-being of Children, Young People and those who care for them. Working for North Manchester CAMHS, you’ll work with Children and Young People aged up to 18 years and who present with a wide range of complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. You’ll be supported to manage a defined caseload and have the responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people. We’ll rely on you to ensure there is effective and sensitive communication between, the Children and Young People in your care, those who care for them, the health professionals you work with and other relevant agencies. MFT CAMHS sits within Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and is comprised of 44 separate services, including 5 Core CAMHS services (North, South, Salford, Central & Trafford), Looked After Children/Adoption services, Children with Disabilities Service and Manchester Eating Disorders Service, along with Inpatient Services based at Galaxy House. To assume responsibility for management of a defined caseload and exercise the highest standards of professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children, young people and their families/carers using specialist knowledge and evaluation of care programmes in collaboration with children, young people and their families/carers, liaising with and referring to relevant agencies.
To participate in a duty rota including receipt and screening of referrals, obtaining further information if needed and responding promptly to emergency requests for assessments or contact, signposting, and advice.
To undertake assessment of children, young people including risk assessment, gathering appropriate information their family/ carers and other relevant agencies
To develop a formulation and plan for intervention with the child, young person and parents/carers. Communicate this to the referrer/other relevant professionals
To offer therapeutic, evidence-based practiced, interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
To implement, co-ordinate and regularly review further assessment and a range of therapeutic interventions, including risk management,
To routinely monitor effectiveness of clinical work by use of Routine Outcome Measures (ROM)
Ensure that the perspective of children, young people and families is incorporated into all aspects of assessment and treatment
The role involves travel to other locations within MFT and within the local community.
