Summary

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners with Special Educational Needs? Dunbar Education, a leading recruitment agency in the education sector, is currently seeking a dedicated Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in Bedford.

About the School: Our client is a SEN school catering to students aged 11-18 of all genders, primarily focusing on Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) profiles.

Position Details:
- Location: Bedford
- Start Date: September
- Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Non-negotiable)
- DBS Requirement: Must be on the update service

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher in planning and implementing work programmes for individuals, groups, and the whole class to promote effective teaching and learning.
- Supervise a whole class and undertake pre-planned activities during the absence of a class teacher.
- Support teachers in delivering tailored learning activities, ensuring each student's unique needs are met.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to the development and growth of students with SEN.
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
- Observe and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other stakeholders as necessary.
- Administer and support with assessments, both formal and informal, to gauge student progress and inform teaching strategies.
- Provide personal care and support as required for students with additional needs.

Additional SEMH Responsibilities:
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students in developing social and emotional skills, providing guidance and encouragement as needed.
- Utilise de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when necessary to address challenging behaviour.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and external agencies to develop and implement behaviour support plans tailored to individual student needs.

Requirements:
- Level 3 SEN TA qualification
- Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Minimum 6 months of experience working in a UK SEN setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and under supervision.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.
