Summary


This is an exciting opportunity to join the national team as the Deputy Chief Midwifery Officer.

You will work with the Chief Midwifery Officer, her wider team, the Maternity and Neonatal programme team and Specialised Commissioning colleagues providing strategic leadership and professional guidanceacross all areas of maternity care and policy. Coupled with your clinical expertise and knowledge, you’ll use your experience and skills to build excellent relationships with stakeholders across the health system to develop midwifery leadership to support a culture of safety, compassion and equity in maternity services and to realise the ambitions outlined in the Three Year Delivery Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Services.

We are focussed on collaborative, multi-disciplinary and compassionate working to deliver sustainable improvements across maternity and neonatal services.

Key responsibilities include;
1. Providing strategic professional midwifery leadership and expert guidance on workforce, leadership and professional matters
2. Clinical and strategic leadership for the delivery of the Three Year Delivery Plan for maternity and Neonatal Service

The successful candidate will hold current midwifery registration and be able to demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of current maternity policy, NHS systems and political acumen. You will be able to demonstrate significant successful leadership at senior level with a proven track record of change leadership and delivery. You will have created of positive workplace culture, built relationships and worked with service users to improve services and tackled inequalities in maternity care.
