Summary

Head of hospitality and retail at Balfour Winery

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Head of Hospitality to oversee our Cellar door, Wine makers Kitchen, tours & tastings and retail shop. You will be super organised, a people person and have a great attitude to delivering 5-star standard customer serviced in a relaxed and beautiful environment. Reporting into our Commercial Director you will be a valued part of our senior management team and help shape the future of the hospitality arm of the Balfour Winery.

About Balfour:

Co-founders Richard and Leslie Balfour-Lynn planted their first vineyards in 2002 on the beautiful Hush Heath Estate, and five years later, Balfour Brut Rosé 2004 became the first English wine to win a gold medal and the Trophy at the International Wine Challenge.

Now one of the country’s most innovative and highly regarded English Wine producers, our wines are stocked in Tesco, M&S, Co-Op, Majestic, alongside listings in prestigious accounts such as British Airways, SAGA , Coutts and Belmond Trains, alongside the 3 star Michelin restaurant - Sketch.

At Balfour, we have a strict winemaking ethos. We believe in small-batch production, carefully matching each wine with specially selected clones, varieties and even soils to produce authentically English Wines, pioneered in Kent.

Our state-of-the-art winery welcomes thousands of visitors every year, and we also operate a network of ten superb Balfour pubs. The Estate comprises 400-acres of manicured vineyards, apple orchards, wildflower meadows and ancient oak woodland, rich in flora and fauna. Sustainability and conservation are of paramount importance and are reflected in the practices used across the Estate.

Responsibilities include, but not limited too:


Ensuring exemplary guest experience in the restaurant and cellar door
Organise and manage a team of up to 20 people including tour guides, retail staff and restaurant/bar team
Lead by example and be present with the team during service times.
You will have a keen eye for detail and high standards.
Being a hands-on brand ambassador for Balfour Winery
Manage the financial side of the F&B operation at the Winery.
Excellent guest service skills with a background of exceeding guest expectations
Day to day organisation of all thing’s food and drink at the Winery
Take full responsibility for team training to ensure guest experience is always exemplary.
Interacting with all guests in the Winery in the restaurant and the Cellar Door


Minimum of 4 years at management level.
