Summary

Applicants are invited for the post of Trust Grade Specialty Doctor in Histopathology. Highly experienced specialty doctors can have the opportunity to progress to the specialist grade. This is a full time post. There is no on-call commitment associated with this post. The successful applicant will form part of a team of Consultant Histopathologists, an existing specialty doctor, secretarial and laboratory support staff providing histopathology reporting services including multidisciplinary team meetings for clinicians and GPs within the Poole and Bournemouth areas.

This post will allow for the provision of greater cover and support to the Histopathology Team to meet the commitments for timely and accurate reporting of cases. Bournemouth Hospital is a busy district general hospital with a broad range of cancer specialties.

The applicant for this post must have full registration with the General Medical Council and licence to practice or be eligible to do so at the time of appointment. Previous familiarity or experience with working in a UK histopathology department is desirable but not essential, but it is expected that the applicant can demonstrate evidence of relevant competency as highlighted in the Royal College of Pathologists specialty doctor guidance.
