Summary


An exiting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist on the Neonatal unit at University Hospitals Dorset.

We are a level 2 unit with 20 cots of which 4 are intensive care, 6 are high dependency care and 10 are special care.

You will be a member of a friendly team who are passionate about high quality care for babies and their families on the unit.

Base Location: Poole Hospital

Change of base site to Royal Bournemouth Hospital from April 2025

Interview Date: TBC

The days required to work being Monday, Wednesday and Friday

• Ensuring families and visitors are able to find their way around the unit
• Support clinical staff in maintaining the security of the unit
• Supporting clinical staff with daily admission, discharge and care updates on clinical systems
• Reporting estates issues to the relevant department

• To ensure all admissions are input daily and recorded in the appropriate books/computer systems and that letters/e-mails are sent out as soon as possible to the GP’s, Health Visitors and Community Midwives.
• Manage clinics on the hospital e-Camis system.
• To create clinical records of new admissions using the Hospital e-Camis system and ensuring all the correct paperwork is in place in the notes
• Create hospital labels for each patient ie: patient address labels, patient name labels without address details, blood labels and breast milk labels. Ensure there is always a supply in the folders
• Send and receive patient notes through the hospital E-CRT system to appropriate destinations
• Ensure all filing is up to date in in patients notes
• Distribute incoming post to appropriate addressee or destinations
• Maintain and protect patient and staff confidentiality at all times
• Make up new sets of notes ready for new admissions, ensuring there is always a plentiful supply stored on the designated shelf as well as a supply ready for making up
• Photocopy documents as required. Check that the doctors and nursing forms are well stocked and photocopy any that are in a low supply. Send any special requests for photocopying to the print room ensuring prompt collection/delivery
• Keep photocopier and printer topped up with paper
• Ensure confidential paperwork is placed in shredding bags provided
• Change any patient details with the correct information as required ie: name change, address change etc
• Ensure all old labels are removed from patient notes and cot side folders and placed in shredding bag
• To undertake any other duties of a similar nature on behalf of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Matron and or Consultant that may be necessary
• To attend administration meetings on a regular basis
