Applications are welcomed for a full-time Locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join a friendly team of 19 consultants serving our local Buckinghamshire population. We are delighted to offer this opportunity to a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to work with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to the provision of high-quality care.

The successful candidate will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital with cross site working at Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals, participate in the on-call rota, run outpatient clinics and hysteroscopy. We would welcome running theatre sessions based on clinical experience of the candidate. The successful applicant will have a job plan based on 10 PAs and would be expected to enhance Gynaecology service and contribute towards Obstetrics. This a locum fixed term contracted opportunity for 12 months.

Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register.

The main responsibilities of the Locum Consultant will be as follows:

· Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients at all times.
• To share with colleagues’ responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Services
• Teaching and training of junior staff.
• To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
• To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).
• To participate in the on-call rota and provide specialist advice in a timely manner

Clinical Responsibilities



The successful candidate will play an important part in day-to-day management of obstetric and gynaecological patients and will join on call rota for Gynaecology and Labour Ward. The post holder will run General Gynaecology outpatient clinics and outpatient hysteroscopy with specialist clinics based on clinical skills and experience.

Key Tasks
• Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients at all times.


• To share with colleagues’ responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology patients requiring admission, investigations, or surgery.


• To undertake duties within the agreed job plan.



· To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.



· To support with teaching and training of junior medical staff.



· To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD).



To participate in on-call rota ensure specialist advice is provided in a timely manner
