Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist with Special Interest in Retina

Part time - 8 PA's per week

This is a replacement post, following the reduction in hours of two clinicians, which will be partly responsible for providing the medical retina aspects of the units’ work. The successful candidate will also provide, along with the other Consultants in the Unit, a general Ophthalmology service, the exact nature of which will depend on the skills of the successful candidate. There may also be an opportunity to be involved in the expanding research portfolio of the department.

This post is based across our sites at Stoke Mandeville , Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals.

Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register. It is Trust policy that without CCT, an offer as Locum Consultant can be given for a 6 months fixed term contract, with possibility of it being extended for a further 6 months, but cannot go over 12 months in total.

The key duties and responsibilities are: -
• · General Ophthalmology responsibilities including on call

· Specialist medical and surgical retina services

·Outpatient clinics at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe/Amersham General Hospital

· Operating

· Teaching

· Other care of inpatients or outpatients

· Clinical and other administration as required by agreement

· Teaching and training of junior staff and undergraduates

· Participation in Clinical Governance

· Service development
