Summary


Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has a exciting position of Clinical Fellow Ophthalmologist with an interest in Cornea post available within their Ophthalmology Department.

This post is based at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe General and Amersham Hospitals in Buckinghamshire) and is for 12 months in the first instance with a possible extension for a further 12 months. This will be a part time post.

The Trust provides a comprehensive Corneal Service covering acute cornea and microbial keratitis, corneal transplants (penetrating keratoplasties, DALKs, and DMEKs), and cross-linking for keratoconus, serving the populations of Buckinghamshire, as well as parts of Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.

The successful applicants will be expected to participate in the diagnosis, management and follow up of patients with complex corneal and external eye diseases under the care of the service, both under supervision and on their own. They will be expected to undertake and to teach phacoemulsification techniques and to contribute to the clinical responsibilities of the cataract service. Proficiency in uncomplicated cataract surgery is mandatory prior to commencing this fellowship. Shortlisted candidates are expected to have audited data on their previous cataract surgery and complication rates. Total cataract surgery numbers should be included in the application.
