Summary


Sonographer

Department Imaging - Ultrasound

Band 7 £43,742 – £50,056 dependent on experience

3 x Fixed Term Contracts available

Hours: 2 roles x 37.5 hours per week, 1 role x 30 hours per week

Imaging is a forward thinking, well equipped department, with 16 ultrasound machines, staffed by a team of sonographers who currently provide a range of obstetric, gynae, abdominal, vascular, MSK and interventional examinations.

We are looking for experienced Sonographers to join our team and support the ultrasound service.

Working times will be across a seven day 37.5 hours per week contract and require flexible working hours to include: 7.5 and 12 hours days, evenings and weekends.

• To participate in the provision of Ultrasound services to Milton Keynes NHS Trust.
• To perform a range of highly specialised Ultrasound examinations.
• To independently provide a diagnostic report of the ultrasound examination for the referrer.
• To use our freedom to act as independent practitioners to refer patients and give highly specialised advice to appropriate clinicians as a result of scan findings.
• To supervise the professional training of a range of students and clinicians and ensure the highest ultrasound standards are observed and communicated. To educate and facilitate training in the practical aspects of ultrasound scanning and safe use of ultrasound and equipment.
• To manage the ultrasound workflow and ensure all data inputs are recorded accurately for both patient record integrity and statistical evaluation purposes.
• To contribute effectively to the delivery of an efficient and responsive ultrasound service, demonstrate partnership in professional development issues maintaining a high level of professional, ethical and technical standard through personal CPD.
• To participate in the Governance of the department in areas including Risk Management, Health and Safety, Research and audit/quality assurance activities.
