Summary


The Assistant Practitioner will be part of the Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetic Team and assist in the provision of the Nutrition and Dietetic service to Paediatric patients. This will involve supporting the dietitians in their assessments and treatment of children and working with their carers or families living in Gwent who are referred for nutritional/dietary advice.

The purpose of the role is to support the registered dietitian in the assessment, monitoring and treatment of patients and undertaking related administration in accordance with the British Dietetic Association code of professional conduct for dietetic assistants.

This will include working on their own in the home, school, children’s centre or clinic environment with individuals or groups of children, clients, their families and other health professionals.

Able to travel to undertake the duties of the post at various locations





The paediatric dietetic team are a small but highly skilled team of paediatric dietitians and support staff located throughout the health board. The paediatric dietitians support the dietary assessment and management of infants, children and young people withlong term health conditions that require tube feeding in the community and visiting families at home.The post holder will also support the team of dietitians working in the acute setting.

The post holder would be required to work with other health professionals and with schools and social services as required. They would receive training, guidance and supervision from a registered dietitian.
