About us
The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786. Our Headquarters are on Edinburgh's historic George Street however we also run an operating base in Oban as well as satellite bases in Inverness, Orkney and Shetland. We are currently recruiting for roles based in Edinburgh, Orkney and Inverness.

Salary and Benefits
• £33,468 per year rising to £36,822 after the first year in post

• In addition to the salary above you will also receive a Consolidated Overtime Allowance of £6,694 in your first year rising to £7,365 (pensionable)

• When working on our more remote lighthouses you will receive a generous nightly allowance

The Role – Overview
• Traveling extensively to Lighthouses throughout Scotland and the Isle of Man, you will work as part of a highly skilled team carrying out maintenance, repair and installation work on Lighthouses and other aids to navigation

• Working on a wide range of electrical plant which includes PLC based control systems, data communication systems, solar, diesel and wind power generation plant and, electrical installations to the current IEE wiring regulations
