Summary

Job Title: Trainee Motorhome & Caravan Technician (TMT124)

Are you a practical person looking to retrain for a growing industry? Are you a team player who is technically minded and enjoys hands-on practical tasks? Do you already have experience working with gas or electrics that you can bring to this role? Highland Campervans are looking for someone who is self-motivated, with an eye for detail and a problem-solving attitude.

You will be joining a friendly, hardworking team within a successful and established business. With a combination of training from Highland Campervans experienced technicians plus external courses, you will be working towards gaining a City & Guilds Qualification in Motorhome and Caravan Servicing, plus industry relevant electrical and gas safety qualifications. You should be confident, approachable, ready to learn and work well under pressure.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager you will:

Work alongside our existing technicians to gain experience in the servicing of caravans, campervans and motorhomes.

Train specifically on electrical and gas systems, working towards successful completion of NCC approved qualifications.

Attend training courses as required.

Take responsibility to grow your knowledge base of this ever-evolving industry.

Liaise directly with customers on delivery and collection of their vehicle, discussing faults and issues, guiding the customer through the process and documenting any work required.

Identify repairs that can be done in line with the company’s range of offered services.

Carry out habitation checks, damp inspections and complete all servicing paperwork in line with NCC standards.

Maintain equipment, tools and work areas.

Fitting of accessories such as awnings, bike racks and solar panels.

Liaise with colleagues to ensure that any parts required are ordered into stock in time for work to be carried out.

Work to deadlines to maintain the workshop diary schedule.

Remain confident and calm when dealing with negative or difficult situations.

Ensure that health and safety awareness is paramount within the workshop environment for all staff and work safely at all times with the correct PPE.

Work with colleagues to maintain our high level of brand standards.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

Desirable Skills:
Experience of working with motorhomes, caravans or campervans
Carpentry, plumbing, gas or electrical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to work on several tasks at the same time
A full and valid UK driving licence (It is expected this will be achieved within a timely manner).

Starting date: As soon as possible (or other date by negotiation)
Type of contract: This is a full-time position and full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Hours of work: 36-40 hours per week, covering 5 days on rota basis.
Salary: £22,000 starting salary for trainees. Salary dependant on experience and qualifications. Technicians are expected to have their own basic hand tools.
