Summary

Do you have many years of experience of Motorhomes and Caravans but are looking for a change of workplace or even a completely new area to live and work in? Highland Campervans is an award winning family firm in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. We are looking for a practical and experienced technician who can help support our busy workshop.

Your primary role will be to help diagnose, fault find and repair, modern and complex motorhomes. You will need to have a logical, systematic approach to problem solving and fault finding. Individuals will be welcomed as part of the workshop team, but you will be expected to be able to work on your own initiative, helping ensure customer vehicles are looked after whilst in the workshop. Ideally you will already have relevant industry qualifications to bring with you, or you will be willing to use your existing skills to attend and pass essential electrical and gas safety training courses.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager you will:

Work alongside our existing technicians to share your experience in the servicing of caravans, campervans and motorhomes.

Undertake diagnostic work on motorhomes and caravans, logically identifying possible causes and solutions.

Liaise with colleagues to ensure that any parts needed are ordered into stock in time for work to be carried out.

Take responsibility to grow your knowledge base of this ever evolving industry.

Liaise directly with customers on delivery and collection of their vehicle, discussing faults and issues, guiding the customer through the process and documenting any work required.

Identify repairs that can be done in line with the company’s range of offered services.

Carry out habitation checks, damp inspections and complete all servicing paperwork in line with NCC standards.

Maintain equipment, tools and work areas.

Fitting of accessories such as awnings, bike racks and solar panels.

Work to deadlines to maintain the workshop diary schedule.

Remain confident and calm when dealing with negative or difficult situations.

Ensure that health and safety awareness is paramount within the workshop environment for all staff and work safely at all times with the correct PPE.

Work with colleagues to maintain our high level of brand standards.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.

In summary you will have:
Extensive experience of working with motorhomes, caravans or campervans
A practical, problem-solving mindset
Carpentry, plumbing, gas or electrical skills with training certificates/proof of competency.
The ability to work on your own initiative and within a team
An excellent eye for detail
Enthusiasm and self-motivation
Be capable of delivering a first-class customer service
A good standard of reading & writing skills plus IT skills
Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
A full and valid UK driving licence.

Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to work on several tasks at the same time
Starting date: As soon as possible (or other date by negotiation)
Type of contract: This role has the flexibility to be a part time or full-time contract.
Hours of work: 36-40 hours per week. 5 days a week. Part-time work may be available.
Salary: Salary by negotiation. Technicians are expected to have their own hand tools.
