Summary


We are looking for an assistant to join our friendly and innovative Speech & Language Therapy Team.

The post holder will provide assistance to the Speech & Language Therapy Service with specific activities as delegated by and under the supervision of a qualified Speech & Language Therapist.

The role will involve working with patients who have a range of Speech & Language Therapy related conditions in a variety of community settings. The post holder will carry out therapeutic interventions as required by the Speech & Language Therapist and be responsible for providing feedback relating to patients progress.

Staff development is a high priority and you will be fully supported by specialist Speech & Language Therapists to enable you to establish yourself and develop in the role.

The post holder will be required to work 16 hours per week. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a health environment, will hold a NVQ level 3 certificate or equivalent and have excellent communication, IT and organisational skills.

This post will involve communication with a wide range of people, for example; patients who may have communication impairments, carers, health professionals, and other members of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will carry out therapeutic interventions as required by the Speech & Language Therapist and be responsible for providing feedback relating to patients progress.

Tasks will include supporting the Speech & Language Therapists in gathering information for initial assessment, managing care plans, troubleshooting messages and assisting in organising and facilitating group based education.

Other general administrative duties include; typing patient related letters, use of an electronic administration system, ordering patient equipment and maintaining stock control of Speech & Language Therapy resources.
