Summary


Trauma and Orthopaedics are thriving specialties within the Trust. New Cross Hospital is a busy regional trauma unit dealing with complex extremity trauma. The Department offers a broad range of elective sub-specialty interests including Upper Limb, Lower Limb Arthroplasty, Foot and Ankle, Spine, and Paediatric Orthopaedics.

Senior Clinical Fellows (CCT not required) work at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital covering a wide variety of sub-specialties working directly with a consultant.

PLEASE NOTE POSTS ARE UNLIKELY TO PARTICIPATE ON THE ON-CALL ROTA BUT WILL INCLUDE WORKING AT CANNOCK CHASE HOSPITAL

We are looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Fellow to commence as soon as possible; appointments are for a 1 year fixed term period in the first instance.

Although the posts are non-training grade, there will be direct Consultant supervision and an educational programme including annual appraisal, 4-monthly supervisor meetings, access to an e-portfolio and relevant study leave. There will be a specific programme of protected teaching and a wide range of other clinical training activities.

Postholders are encouraged to undertake audit and quality improvement projects. They will also be supported to pursue Membership examinations in their chosen specialty. There will be options to develop formal teaching or research skills.



Postholders are also strongly encouraged to register for a Masters qualification in surgery or one of its sub-specialties Subject to satisfactory application/progress this will be funded and protected time will be allocated. As part of this it is expected the post holder will undertake a clinical project leading to presentations at meetings and publications
