Custom Solar have a number of high-profile clients, including the Association of British Ports (ABP). Custom Solar secured a framework partnership with ABP, the UK's leading port operator, with a unique network of 21 ports across England, Scotland and Wales. Their ports include Immingham and Hull, where Custom Solar recently installed the UK's largest rooftop project, a 6.5MWp solar system across the main terminals buildings with works including major HV upgrade works.



Job Overview

Leading delivery of multiple Solar PV installation projects, driving project progress with clients, internal teams and external suppliers. Ensuring materials, labour, documentation and designs are correct, on time & to budget, while upholding a high standard of health & safety throughout. Follow CDM best practices, drive high quality performance and ensure expectations are met, whilst capturing any out-of-scope variations through order to completion.



Location: Remote

Hours: 0830 to 1630 (Self-managed)

Reporting to: Custom Solar - Senior Project Manager

Salary Band: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum



Responsibilities:

-Project focal point for client and internal teams. Liaising with Designers & Business Development Management team, and back-end handovers with the Operation & Maintenance team, where necessary.

-Carry out pre-construction activities, including but not limited to; Risk registers, RAMS, CPP, on-site client meetings, allocation of installation team(s), review approvals, creating project program and surveying sites.

-Ensure QHSE standards are adhered to throughout all projects and members of the team actively participate in Health & Safety. Escalate & record accidents/incidents, utilise H&S protocols and inspire observation reporting.

-Gather & maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, approvals, and compliance records.



-Carry out weekly updates to stakeholders, compile project data for internal progress tracking and complete KPI reports with accurate critical information.

-Sign-off project with internal installation managers and confirm designs & standards have been adhered to.

-Request purchase orders where necessary. Schedule plant, materials and labour while tracking budgets.

-Identify, resolve and log risks, while co-ordinating with various teams to ensure smooth running of operations.

-Monitor project expenses, ensure cost control measures are being followed and prepare accurate financial reports.

-Take responsibility for budget and time milestones, sharing clear deadlines with procurement and supporting invoices with finance & commercial. Own the project from contract execution to successful testing & hand-over.

-Implement quality management processes to ensure project deliverables meet the required standards, scored by the QA team. Ensure snags are complete prior to handing over a live system to the client and the O&M team.

What we are looking for:

Essential:

-Literate with IT, including use of Google Sheets and the MS Office; Words, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook etc..



-Able to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, adapting approaches and influencing skills to the audience's characters, with strong time-management and reliability.



-Well organised with a strong ability to multi-task over multiple projects/workstreams and hit deadlines timely.



-Maintaining positivity and healthy relationships in the face of pressure and setbacks, remaining calm.



-Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all matters; data collation, communications, reviewing documents etc..



-Solid knowledge & ability to capture documentation, including H&S, CDM Regs, DNO, planning, surveys, quality audits and reports. Supporting KPIs and capturing accurate records.



-Previous experience in managing teams and cross-departmental collaboration, with excellent interpersonal skills. A strong team player - cooperative and willing to assist others.



-Hands-on experience with technical documentation (including electrical schematics), program of works and client management, with an ability to problem solve and work proactively & effectively.



-Full driving licence, ideally clean and willing to travel / stay away from home where necessary.



Desirable:

-Previous experience with solar installations. Rooftop or ground-mount, dependant on the role available.

-Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)

-APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)

-PRINCE 2 or Alternative qualifications in project management.
