Summary


The Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic consultant psychiatrist to join the Children and Young Peoples Eating Disorder Service (CYPEDS). The Consultant appointed will provide clinical leadership to (CYPEDS) team. The post holder will contribute to the assessment and therapeutic needs of children, young people, and their families in a range of settings and will work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate tailored treatment plans.

Cornwall CYPED service provides NICE Concordant Evidenced Based Treatments to children and young people, with an eating disorder. You will contribute to assessment and therapeutic needs of children, young people and their families in a range of settings and work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver individually tailored treatment plans. We are dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes and have the lowest rates for specialist ED bed use in the South West.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team which includes paediatrics, nursing, systemic family therapy, psychology, and other therapists. Cornwall CYPED is an innovative service as recognised across our region. Innovations include our physical monitoring service, parent group, Bulimia pathway and collaboration with our local Adolescent Unit in developing eating disorder pathways. You will be a key player in continuing to shape the service including ARFID and day care provision for Anorexia Nervosa

The successful candidate will develop a personal development plan for lifelong learning. Consultants are encouraged to participate actively in multi-source 360-degree feedback as recommended by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. We also offer new appointees the chance to extend their development. The post holder will belong to a peer group for personal development both within the organisation and externally if preferred. There are currently two CAMHS Psychiatrists’ peers’ groups, one West and one East. Both peer groups meet monthly, and attend to the Royal College requirements for CPD. In addition to both the local peer group and a CPD programme, there is a monthly CAMHS County Wide group for seminar learning, peer reflection and business matters.
