Summary


An opportunity has arisen for a part time experienced Band 7 Advanced Podiatrist to join our committed podiatry team who work within a highly motivated environment.

You will be working across St Helens in community clinics, care homes, domiciliary settings and complex multi disciplinary clinics within a hospital setting.

To be responsible for the assessment, treatment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence –based highly specialised podiatry intervention within the areas of:
a) Diabetes / Vascular Assessment / Minor Surgery/Renal
b) Rheumatology/ Biomechanics

To support the development of specialist podiatrists and podiatrists via knowledge sharing and supervision to ensure competency within the podiatry workforce. To lead on agreed service developments aimed at service improvements (in line with Evidenced Based Practice) to improve quality within the service.

To be responsible for a highly specialist podiatry portfolio in an agreed area of expertise, which will include provision of expert advice to podiatrists, senior clinicians, MDT across Mersey Care Foundation Trust (MCFT) to support them in taking up their duty of care; to produce, co-ordinate and deliver training programmes including competency frameworks, information packages for patients and families together with colleagues working in health, education and social care.

Management of a clinical caseload of patients with highly complex and/or additional podiatric needs.

To undertake comprehensive podiatry assessment of patients with highly complex presentations, using investigative and analytical skills, to formulate an appropriate hypothesis and to determine a diagnosis.

To establish individualised management and treatment plans, using advanced clinical reasoning and utilising a wide range of evidence based treatment skills and options to formulate highly specialised interventions and programmes of care, which may include working with staff across organisational boundaries.

To facilitate pathways of care involving a step up / step down approach to patients care

To promote health and reduce inequalities for all patients accessing the podiatry service, so that they may be able to maximise their potential in terms of health , education and social well-being.

Provide clinical leadership and supervision facilitating a culture of learning and reflective practice within podiatry.

Identify audit/research opportunities, initiating, designing and implementing agreed projects as required.

To lead/contribute to training and development programmes relating to the field of expertise, delivering the programmes to podiatry team and to other professionals both within and outside the NHS and service users as required.

To lead on agreed service developments and contribute to the Trust’s Quality Strategy.

To participate in the MCFT PDR review process ensuring business priority objectives are met and a personal development plan is maintained and evaluated. To cascade the PDR process to departmental staff as appropriate.

To be responsible for own continuing professional development and maintaining own professional registration and meet HPC Registration requirements maintain a professional portfolio and demonstrating evidence of reflective practice.

To undertake mandatory training as in line with MCFT policy and attend updates and study days as appropriate to the post.

To adhere to all MCFT Policies and Procedures and contribute to their development as appropriate

To have in depth knowledge of HPC standards and guidance, understand implications for and be able to apply to practice. E.g., HPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and HPC Standards of Proficiency.
