Summary
Key Accountabilities To develop and deliver a specialised and skilled level of paediatric occupational therapy including advanced assessment and treatment of patients who have complex and long term physical, sensory and learning disabilities. To provide a high quality and an effective paediatric occupational therapy service for children attending special or mainstream schools, at home, in school or in clinic settings. To be responsible for a varied caseload of children and young people aged 0-25 years of age who may attend mainstream or special schools and colleges. This may include a range of neurological, developmental and/or pervasive conditions. To help to lead on teamwork, learning and development within the paediatric therapy team and to participate in that of the multidisciplinary team of which the service is part. To communicate with a network of Education, Health and Social Care professionals and the voluntary sector. As a member of the paediatric therapy team, to establish and lead on collaborative practice with occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues. As part of the multidisciplinary team, to work as part of the team recognising the individual roles of the other team members and working in partnership with them. To educate and train less experienced staff, occupational therapy students, health, social care and education colleagues. To participate in the training programme offered by Occupational Therapy to education staff. To use assessment skills to identify and prescribe equipment to meet the needs of the individual child or young person.
