Summary

Key Accountabilities Skills for assessing & interpreting patient /client conditions, appropriate diagnosis, develop and implement OT programmes, providing advice to clients/ carers and other disciplines. To use assessment skills to identify and prescribe equipment to meet the needs of the individual child or young person. To demonstrate Communication & Relationship Skills, Provide and receive complex, sensitive diagnostic & prognostic information to patients/ clients, carers & relatives : to be able to sensitively take a case history, recognise barriers to communication and capture Children and young people voice. To demonstrate Planning & Organisational Skills: Plans & prioritises own & section patient workload, training sessions; plans and organises specialist service. To provide a high quality and an effective paediatric occupational therapy interventions for children attending special or mainstream schools, at home, in school or in clinic settings. Develops & implements occupational therapy programmes within a specialist field e.g. trauma, rehabilitation, mental health. Proposes and implements policy in own area of practice. As a member of the paediatric therapy team, to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, to work as part of the team recognising the individual roles of the other team members and working in partnership with them Allocates work to team members; supervises students/ provides training in specialist area Autonomous practitioner, works within codes of practice, guidelines/ may be lead specialist, may lead team, will be responsible for a caseload in the community. Participates in clinical audits; researches / tests different types of aids To be responsible for the safe use of equipment. To work within your competency, professional code and guidelines.
