Engage Education are currently seeking an SEN Support Assistant to provide support for a Year 3 child with Autism. You will be working in one of our partnership Primary Schools based in Bradford, BD3.

The full-time position is to commence ASAP until the end of the academic year, with the potential of a permanent role for the right candidate.



The School aims to provide a wide range of rich and varied learning experiences for all children. Pupils are encouraged to work hard and all staff are committed to helping each child to reach his or her potential within a safe, nurturing environment.



We are looking for an SEN Support who is predominantly experienced in working with Autism and challenging behaviour, but applications are welcome from applicants with a range of SEND experience.



Within the role you will be required to:

• Provide calming and nurturing support for a pupil with an EHCP

• Promote good behaviour management strategies

• Support the delivery of lessons to engage and enthuse learners

• Be a positive role model for the children, through commitment to the setting expectations

• Show an interest in the children that you are working with, to build mutually respectful relationships

• Be resilient, not easily offended and able to de-escalate sometimes challenging situations



Skills and attributes:

• Ability to relate well to pupils and young adults with additional needs

• Experience of working within a similar setting (care homes, hospitals etc) would be advantageous

• Ability to remain calm under pressure

• Team Teach qualification desirable

• Experience of working with SEN, PMLD, ASD or SEMH advantageous
