Summary

Your new company
Hays Recruitment are currently working in partnership with a a large secondary school in Runcorn as they are in need of an experienced and motivated Teaching Assistant to support students with SEN across all year groups. This is a long-term contract that will last until the end of the academic year.

Your new role
In your new role as a Teaching Assistant in this school you will be working across, all year groups (from years 7 to 11) with SEN such as ASD (autistic spectrum conditions), learning difficulties, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia and challenging behaviours. You will work under the instruction of the class teachers to aid in behaviour management, classroom management, and pupil engagement to ensure that all students reach their full academic potential. Your duties will vary depending on the class you are in as the older year groups will require GCSE prep, but generally your duties will consist of intervention and booster sessions on a 1:1 and group basis, positive behaviour support, and classroom management.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you must have extensive referenceable experience working with students aged between 11 - 17 as well as:

  • An NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential
  • The ability to take a person centred approach to education
  • Experience supporting SEN
