Summary

Job Summary -

A Permanent opportunity has arisen within the Regeneration and Community Services directorate for an Assistant Team Leader to assist with the effective management of 25 school kitchens and Breakfast Clubs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and cost-effective running of the Authority’s Catering Establishment within schools.

A permanent position has arisen within the Regeneration and Community services directorate for an Assistant Team Leader to assist with the effective management of 25 school kitchens and Breakfast Clubs.

You will undertake and be responsible for a comprehensive range of management duties which includes managing a large workforce of 300 staff, arranging emergency meals, updating iTrent, arranging sickness cover in kitchens, leave of absence, timesheets, recruitment, kitchen inspections, training, Trainee Assistant Cooks Program, absence review meetings, risk assessments, reports, health & safety kitchen checks, 1-2-1 meetings, administration duties, catering audits etc.

You will also work closely with the Central School Meals Catering team and cover in the absence of the Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader to ensure the smooth running of the Catering Service.

You will be required to support the forward planning of the service with the current priority being the universal free school meals initiative. This will require liaising with cooks and making site visits to ensure kitchens are well prepared and have adequate staffing levels and equipment to meet demand.

The successful candidate will also be expected to attend meetings with Headteachers, School Governor’s, external stakeholders, Welsh Government, work collaboratively with local authorities and undertake any other duties required to support the School Meals Catering Service.

The successful candidate must possess a current, Managerial and Food Safety Level 4 Management Qualification, have a minimum of 5 year’s school catering experience within the industry and hold a clean full license with access to a car.
